Even though DYP had announced that they would stay in the opposition, the administration now announces that they are open to coalition proposals after Rahsan Ecevit's statement about MHP.
While Deputy Chairman of DYP, Hasan Ekinci states that they will consider coalition proposals, he also thinks that the probable formation of the government may change with the recent developments.
Stating that 414 deputies are from the right wing where as 136 deputies are from the left wing, Hasan Ekinci has said the following:
" DYP may take place in a coalition, however it is yet too early to say something. We are a political party and will carry any responsibility given to us. I believe that the election of the Chairman of the Parliament is important for the determination of the government. There are 414 deputies on the right wing and 136 on the left, so it is not certain that DSP will form the government. As in the model of Hikmet Cetin, a fifth party may get the Chairmnship. There is a possibility that DYP may get the Chairmanship of the Parliament and that would have a big affect on the formation of the government."
