World is at the turning point of the century's oil war. All around the world meetings held and declerations given on the Caspian oil that is expected to be the power source of the 21st Century.
The most important country for the transport of the Caspian oil to the western markets is Turkey. Both Bosphorus and Dardanelles and the Baku-Ceyhan pipe-line makes Turkey the leading actor of the play. This is why Turkey has to play the cards in the hand well.
The Minister of Power and Natural Sources Cumhur Ersumer, who is the most authorized person on the issue has told the strategies that Turkey will follow to Milliyet.
Mr. Ersumer has told that the transport of the oil through Bosphorus and Dardanelles is impossible and the objections of Turkey are tried to be bypassed by lines through Varna to Dedeagac and Saros to Aegeian Sea. "None of these can eliminate the possibility of Baku-Ceyhan pipe-line. Because the cost of loading and unshipment decreases the profitability. Turkey doesn't demands Baku-Ceyhan for economic reasons. We have always been able to find our own oil for 75 years. The income of the pipe-line would be $60 million anually. This is not an important figure. Maximum capacity would be 100 millions of tonnes in a yer. This shows that it is not possible to transport the oil through the current routes" said Minister Ersumer.
Mr. Ersumer stated that Turkey will insist on Baku-Ceyhan pipe-line despite the AIOC consortium. "We do the requirements until the decision is taken. We think Baku-Ceyhan is more advantegous that the route through Iran to Persien Gulf. We say that the geographical conditions appropriate. Let me put in other words, even AIOC says no, we will build tpe Baku-Ceyhan pipe-line" he added.
