The Minister of Environment prepares to a bring suit against Baklan Mayor for he organised a dog fight.
The government also reacted against Baklan mayor of the city of Denizli
for he organised a dog fight in the region. The Minister of Environment
Fevzi Aytekin said he would bring a suit against the Mayor Ayhan Demirdover,
who organised a dog fight with a permission of beautiful dog contest.
Reminding that the animals' rights law draft that hasn't passed because of
the opposition of Natuonalist Action Party deputy Husnu Yusuf Gokalp forbids
such savagery Aytekin said, he will bring the issue to the Prime Minister
Bulent Ecevit.
"If people have bad intentions or they are sadistic, we would not be able to
prevent such events even if the law passed. The dog owners may be ignorant,
they don't have to know the legal code. In Denizli case the Mayor requests
permission, the local administrator gives the permission and the governor is
informed. Even if there is no such law, the local authority should have
known such a savagery could take place and shouldn't have let it happen.
Denizli governor launched an investigation against the dog fight organised
by Balkan mayorality. Governor Yusuf Ziya Goksu considered the event
unacceptable and said those responsible for such a barbarism will be
punished.
