Government should keep its promises

While supporting Milliyet's campaign of 'let us go Southeast', President Suleyman Demirel stated that the government should keep its promises for the region. "These promises ought to be kept. I do keep the government under pressure to do so." has said the President.
Stating his thoughts on the region's improvement move to Milliyet, Mr.Demirel stated that the problem of terror has been minimized with the determined struggle of the security units. He also emphasized that the economic mobilization towards the East and the Southeast gained importance. While explaining the developments in the region, Mr.Demirel has said, "Big companies are coming to Sanlıurfa. Diyarbakır became a leader in the region with bright investments. There are positive developments in Mardin. And in Erzurum and Kars there are important industrial progressions though they are not as much as we desire them to be."
Mr.Demirel has said the following while evaluating the government's economic projects:
" The government has given certain promises. However it needs to keep them in the soonest time. They had promised for a house and for a 50 percent discount in electricity. These should be kept. If you once give such promises, you ought to keep them. If you don't, no one will believe in the next promise you'll give. If these are not kept, complaints will start in time. I keep the government under pressure about this subject. I have talked to both Mesut Yilmaz and Bulent Ecevit on these subjects. I always do."
Mr.Demirel also pointed out the vital importance of the Gaziantep, Sanlıurfa, Diyarbakır and Van airports in the region's developments.
