I have always worked in harmony with Ciller

       "I have entered DYP because it is a party that suits my national tradition, my religous understanding, my method of thought and my views on economy." has said retired Lieutenant General Lokman Kundakcı who have decided to enter politics with a surprise decision, while stating his reasons to join the True Path Party(DYP).
       Stating that he believes the leader of DYP, Tansu Ciller, will slip out of the investigation commission established at the Turkish National Grand Assembly without being harmed, Kundakcı has stated his reasons of entering politics to Milliyet with the following words:
       "The first reason is that I believe the Turkish Republic will reach to the modern civilization aim set by Ataturk, through a democratic secular system. A system other than that is out of the question. If I can take part in this system and make even a small contribution, I will count myself happy.
       The second reason is that I have worked in the armed forces for 40 years. I have carried out important tasks both within the country and abroad. I have gained many experiences. Between the years 1993-95, I was the Commander of the Special Forces under the Gendarme Public Order Commandership. DYP was in power at the time. I was working in harmony with them. Prime Minister at the time, the present General Chairman of DYP now, has really helped us then. She had made great contributions in the buying of armed helicopters, Sikorsky helicopters and the spy on equipments.
       With this harmony, PKK has been restrained. And I want these experiences to be used in the most reasonable fields. That is why I have entered politics.
       The third reason is my friends' pressures. If a person feels stong, he desires to work. And I feel strong. I did not demand another task from the state. Until today I have already climbed to the peak as a bureaucrat, I will not work for somebody else after this point."
       Kundakcı has answered the question, "Why DYP?" as follows:
       "I am a nationalist. I am devoted to my national traditions and my religion. And this party really suits my method of thought as well as my views on economy. I prefer the liberal system. I believe in free market economy. And these are fitting with DYP.
       Besides DYP is a rooted party. It is a party that has struggled for a democratic system. I have also looked at its staff. I know most of them, we had worked together. They all carry positive thoughts on the Turkish Armed Forces. These are all reasons why I have chosen to work with DYP."
