Oral Celik who was detained at the Adana Airport on his way to Northern Cyprus last Friday was released yesterday as the police determined that the computer records were wrong.
Adana Attorney General Ahmet Ceylani Tugrul said Oral Celik is banned from going abroad because of a continuing trial and the former imprisonment decisions were wrongly recorded and as there is no other imprisonment for him and the documents have reached them late he was set free.
Oral Celik's lawyer Yusuf Zafer stated that they think there are some old records in the airport computers and requested the officials to investigate these in his speech after he talked with the attorney general. Mr. Zafer recorded that they applied to İcel Security Department and learned there is no prohibition for Oral Celik to go abroad.
Oral Celik who is the key name of Pope John-Paul II. and Abdi İpekci assasinations and returned to Turkey in 1996 after long years of living abroad as a fugitive
has been accused of two other murders in Istanbul and Malatya and was decided to be judged without any imprisonment.
After being released Oral Celik didn't make any statements but said he wanted to go to KKTC not to buy a casino but only to pay a visit and moved towards to Mersin by car together with his lawyer and two bodyguards.
