The U.S. backs the Baku - Ceyhan pipeline project

Cumhur Ersumer, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources declared that Turkey became the leading country for the delivery of the Azerbaijani early oil through the Baku - Ceyhan pipeline.
Mr. Ersumel said feasibilty efforts for Turkey's pipelines were discussed in his latest U.S. visit and added that they took the support of the U.S. underlining that they continue not to use these successes as a trump in the home politics.
In his statement for the daily Milliyet, Mr. Ersumer said their determination about the nuclear power plants which cause protest rallies of the environmentalist circles. "Turkey must be introduced with the nuclear techniques." He also added that the environmentalists will thank him in the future for the measures they took for thermal power plants.
Minister Ersumer said they made efforts in the recent U.S. visit, on the delivery of Azerbaijani early - oil via the Baku - Ceyhan pipeline and the projects were regarded by the officials of the U.S. Department of Energy as concrete proposals that worth considering. Mr. Ersumer who informed that the subject was discussed at the Congress also stated that he went there on an invitation from the U.S. - Turkish Council.
